On 4 March 2026, we participated in the Festival of Languages event organised by the Great North Museum!

60 Year 7’s from St Joseph’s Primary School
30 Year 5’s from St Michael’s Primary School
12 Year 4’s from Christ Church Primary School
How did the three schools find it?
The teachers noted that the “opportunity to make a Mardi Gras mask” and the “engaging” leadership of the session was the most enjoyable part of the activity.
Jo McSwain reports pupil feedback when asked about their favourite part of the day during the Festival of Languages was the ENACT Mardi Gras mask making.
Children (and some teachers) wore their masks until the end of the day, taking them home.
